Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American TV reporter, journalist and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. 1976 Mitchell was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). Within two years she joined NBC News as a Washington reporter. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the the chief correspondent for foreign affairs at NBC News. Mitchell is a regular on the TV news show Meet the Press as a host and panelist. She served as a panelist during the presidential debates in 1988 in the debate between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for the John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her contribution in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. This period included both Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell covered a number of noteworthy news stories throughout time, including budget reform, tax reform as well as The Iran Contra scandal. She traveled frequently with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
